Fields Pianos is closing its doors (for real, it appears) later this month. In my determination to have the last laugh in my beloved little underground hideaway (official home to Parlor Performances since 2004), I've put together a weekend marathon of comedy, cabaret and solo theatre for Saturday and Sunday, August 15th & 16th -- with four different afternoon and evening shows over the two days. With 20 or more artists performing (5 or 6 artists per show for about 15 minutes each), this is a great opportunity for program directors, chairs of organizations and anyone who entertains or is involved in special events to see a variety of shows in a short period of time. Please forward this on to anyone who may be interested.

Parlor Performances are now in their 20th year and they will re-emerge in a new venue in the fall. As many of you know, the series began quite accidentally in a friend's living room and has traveled from large homes to art galleries to public libraries and, 5 years ago, to Steinway Hall. The shows have featured Dave Frishberg, Steve Allen, Mort Sahl, Dale Gonyea, Sandra Tsing Loh, Josh Kornbluth, Jay Leonhart and dozens of other seasoned and emerging artists. It has been a thrill for me to work with so many interesting and talented performers -- and even more exciting to introduce many of them to the wonderful patrons who have been drawn to the series.

Artists will be donating their time, with all profits going to fund Academy Award winning filmmaker John Zaritsky's documentary on Carla Zilbersmith -- the extrordinary jazz singer/ comedian/ theatre professor with ALS. See 10 minutes at www.leavethemlaughingfilm.com
A partial list of participating artists (w/ links to videos) are listed in the yellow box below. I hope to see you there -- and promise to keep you laughing throughout the weekend!
